Earlier this month, partners Sherrod Seward and Dinh Tran were invited to speak to a group of foreign students at Central Piedmont Community College (“CPCC”) in Charlotte. CPCC has six campuses throughout Mecklenburg County and is an affordable option from students from all around the world to get started with their post secondary education. The partners addressed students of an English as a second language class, many of whom are currently studying in the United States on an F-1 status.
“The executive order had just passed and there was a lot of fear in the room” Sherrod Seward says. “I was glad to have an opportunity to reassure the students with useful information and learn more about their plans in the future."
The students were very engaged with the presentation and had great stories of why they decided to study in Charlotte. “I think they enjoyed the change of pace,” remarked Princess Small, the class instructor. Princess used the opportunity of having the Queen City Immigration Law attorneys in the room to introduce some new law-related vocabulary to her students.
The partners plan to maintain a relationship with CPCC in the future by speaking with future classes and attending career fairs. Among many curricula, CPCC also has an excellent paralegal program from which local law firms, such as Queen City Immigration Law, could recruit some of the best prepared individuals to assist on legal cases.
